Military History Tour of New York Harbor

Jump aboard the yacht Kingston for this special historical cruise!  In honor of our National Holiday WeekendsClassic Harbor Line and Turnstile Tours have partnered to offer a special series of Naval Harbor History Tours!

Join us on Memorial Day Weeked (and Fleet Week), July 4th Weekend, August 8-10 & Labor Day Weekend for a special, in-depth tour of our rich harbor-related war history

This special 2.5-hour tour will explore the military history of New York Harbor from the Revolutionary War to today, with special emphasis on the role of the port in World War II. We will visit historic military sites, monuments, fortifications and see historic and modern fighting ships up close (especially during Fleet Week).

Highlights along the way will include:

  • The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
  • Brooklyn Army Terminal & The Brooklyn Navy Yard
  • Louis Khan's Four Freedoms Monument and other monuments.
  • The Statue of Liberty, lower Manhattan Skyline, and a pass under the Brooklyn, Manhattan & Williamsburg Bridge!
  • Harbor Forts: Castle Williams & Castle Clinton
  • Governor's Island and the South Street Seaport!
  • (During Fleet Week: The Staten Island Homeport - where ships of the modern Navy and Coast Guard will be visiting)

During World War II, New York was arguably the most important port in the world – more men and supplies shipped out from the harbor than any other in the country, and docks and shipyards worked around the clock for the war effort.  In addition to stories about the harbor's military history, the tour will also include oral histories of men and women who worked and served on the New York waterfront during World War II that will help bring these places to life.

This tour will be led by Turnstile Tours, with support by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92.

The Kingston offers wrap-around seating, on a small intimate classic yacht with un-obscured views for all!  The back observatory is covered to protect you from the bright sun but has open windows for you to feel the fresh breeze in your hair! Guests are welcome on the forward deck as well to soak in the sun and to score fantastic photographs of the city skyline!
A complimentary beverage from the bar and light hors d' oeuvres are included.

**And PLEASE NOTE: World War II Veterans cruise for FREE.  If you are bringing a WWII hero, please be sure to secure them a FREE ticket when booking your tickets.
